An intentional life is one filled with goals and purpose. It is a life fueled by the recognition that our choices have consequences. When we live intentionally we refuse to simply drift through our days, blindly carried downstream by little more than inertia and variables outside of our control.
Living with purpose requires frequent pauses to evaluate where we are, what we are doing, and the impact of our own behavior and the actions of those around us. It is a continual realignment of our priorities to ensure that they are supporting our goals in a meaningful way.
It is empowering to believe that what happens to us is largely by choice, not chance. This belief can also frighten us – with choice and power comes the responsibility to make decisions, and sometimes we might make the wrong ones. Living life with intention isn’t about being perfect, or the false belief that we can control every little thing that happens to us. It is about being thoughtful, having the courage and stamina to see what is in front of us and make changes as needed, and feeling a sense of satisfaction in being the true master of our destiny.
